Job Full Description:
A global manufacturer with a strong West Michigan presence is seeking a temporary quality engineer to support supplier development and quality initiatives on a contract basis. This individual will evaluate, develop, and improve the supplier base to ensure the highest levels of quality, cost-efficiency, and delivery performance, while also working closely with suppliers to implement best practices, drive continuous improvement, and ensure alignment with company standards and goals. Temporary Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
- Conduct supplier assessments and audits to evaluate their capabilities, quality systems, and capacity. Lead the qualification process for new suppliers.
- Work with suppliers to develop and implement continuous improvement plans, focusing on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Address and resolve supplier-related issues using root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies. Ensure timely and effective resolution of quality problems.
- Monitor and analyze supplier performance metrics. Provide regular feedback to suppliers and internal stakeholders on performance trends and improvement opportunities.
- Provide technical support to suppliers to ensure they meet product specifications and quality standards. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve technical issues.
- Develop and implement supplier development programs to enhance supplier capabilities and performance. Foster strong relationships with key suppliers to drive strategic initiatives.
- Ensure suppliers comply with regulatory and company-specific requirements, including quality management systems, environmental standards, and ethical practices.
- Collaborate with procurement, quality, engineering, and production teams to align supplier development activities with business objectives.
Schedule:
1st shift, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, Contract
Job Experience
- 5+ years of supplier quality and supplier development experience.
- Strong understanding and application of various problem-solving methodologies including but not limited to 5 Why, 8D, A3 for root cause analysis.
- Process improvement focused with experience in lean manufacturing and quality management systems.
- Six Sigma Green Belt is desired but not required.
Job Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field.
