Job Full Description:
A local manufacturing company is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join its team. This full-time position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety protocols, training, and regulatory compliance. This role requires excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, as well as a proactive approach to improving workplace safety standards.
Safety Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and uphold safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company guidelines.
- Conduct safety training sessions for all employees, ensuring they are educated on safety practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assess and manage PPE needs, ensuring effectiveness and proper distribution. Order PPE and oversee the PPE vending program.
- Lead investigations into safety incidents and near misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Conduct regular safety audits and facility inspections to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain thorough records of safety incidents, training sessions, and inspections. Prepare and submit reports as required.
- Partner with production personnel, the Plant Manager, and leadership to foster a proactive safety culture and address any safety concerns quickly.
- Stay informed about safety regulations and industry best practices, ensuring the plant complies with local, state, and federal safety requirements.
- Contribute to developing and executing initiatives to improve workplace safety, including setting safety performance metrics and goals.
- The Safety Coordinator may assist in other areas as needed to cover absences, relieve workload during peak times, or provide support to different functions.
Schedule & Pay: Full Time, Monday-Thursday 5am-3:30pm
Job Experience
- 2+ years in a safety role within a manufacturing environment.
- Teamwork; Building Collaborative Relationships; Result Orientation; Personal Credibility.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work independently and in teams.
- OSHA certification preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, must be able to walk for extended periods.
Job Education
Associate’s Degree (2-year) in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
