Job Full Description:
Kenya Hope is a Christian nonprofit ministry committed to transforming lives and communities across Kenya through our Hope Center model, which takes a holistic approach to addressing the needs of children, families, and communities. Our core programs include clean water, widows might, and student sponsorship, all of which are integrated with gospel proclamation and Bible-based discipleship. We are seeking an Executive Director to lead our organization’s operations, program development, fundraising, and strategic planning. It is important for this individual to have strong interpersonal skills, has a desire for fundraising, and has a heart for the Lord and His Children to ensure God's Word is active within Kenya. This position requires a dynamic and mission-driven leader who is passionate about our work, detail-oriented, and skilled in managing teams and organizational processes.
Responsibilities:
- Organizational Mission and Leadership:
- Lead the organization in fulfilling its mission by implementing and executing the policies, procedures, and actions established by the Board of Directors.
- Provide values-based leadership to the Board and staff, ensuring that our programs align with the mission and core values.
- Communicate a compelling vision and work with the team to execute short and long-term strategic plans.
- Develop and evaluate goals for the organization, ensuring continuous progress toward mission fulfillment.
- Build and nurture relationships with public, private, faith-based, and philanthropic stakeholders, leveraging these connections to advance the mission.
- Operations and Administration:
- Oversee daily operations of the organization, ensuring efficiency and accountability.
- Supervise and provide leadership to staff members (local and abroad), offering coaching, professional development, and performance reviews.
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures while fostering a positive team culture.
- Liaise between the Board of Directors and staff, facilitating communication and collaboration.
- Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and resource management, ensuring the organization remains financially healthy.
- Coordinate with external service providers (e.g., accountants, legal advisors) to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Development and Fundraising:
- Lead the fundraising strategy, working to cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, including individuals, churches, businesses, and foundations.
- Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, including attending and promoting these events.
- Ensure the organization’s long-term sustainability by developing and implementing both short and long-term development strategies.
- Christian Faith Community and Public Relations:
- Serve as the organization's ambassador, promoting its mission and programs to Christian faith communities, businesses, and other organizations.
- Develop and deliver presentations about our work and impact, building awareness and support for the organization.
- Oversee the creation of marketing materials, including newsletters and promotional content.
- Represent the organization at conferences, workshops, and other relevant events.
- Oversight of the training of pastors at the Hope Centers.
- Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement:
- Lead the development and execution of strategic plans that align with the organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
- Regularly evaluate organizational performance, identifying opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Foster a culture of innovation and strategic thinking across the organization.
- Ensure the successful implementation of programs that meet the needs of the communities served, with a focus on local leadership and self-sustainability.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as directed by the Board Chair to further the organization’s mission.
- Travel at least twice per year to Kenya to visit Hope Centers and engage with staff, partners, and community members.
Schedule: Full-time, flexible schedule with occasional evening and weekend availability
Job Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, with a focus on global missions or outreach.
- Proven track record of successful fundraising and donor relations.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget development and fiscal oversight.
- Experience in strategic planning and organizational development.
- Strong personnel management experience, with an ability to motivate, guide, and develop staff.
- Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and written presentations.
- Demonstrated expertise in resolving conflicts effectively while preserving relationships.
- Experience in working collaboratively with community organizations, funders, and partner agencies.
- Strong administrative skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach to processes and procedures.
- A deep understanding of and commitment to the mission of Kenya Hope.
- Active and committed member of a Christian congregation that confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, with a strong personal faith.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel.

- Proficient with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace) and fundraising tools.
Job Education
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred.
