Job Full Description:
A local company is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their dynamic finance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Cost Accountant will play a vital role in analyzing and managing cost information to maximize profitability. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for maintaining the company’s cost accounting system, assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and inventory accuracy, and supporting operational decision-making.
Cost Accountant Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and update the company’s cost accounting and control system.
- Collaborate with Operations Management to provide feedback and analysis on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, including cost standards, sales support, headcount, operational expenses, and overhead development and changes.
- Contribute to month-end financial reporting, including account reconciliations and related tasks.
- Support inventory procedures, including reconciliation of inventory, investigation of variances, and review of cycle count data to maintain physical inventory accuracy.
- Collect, validate, and analyze data to determine labor and application rates, supporting ongoing headcount and cost-saving tracking and planning.
- Prepare business cases and analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, and services to evaluate the impact on product costs and margins.
- Review Bill of Materials for cost and material content changes.
- Perform special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required.
- Provide support for product estimating and cost analysis.
- Assist with other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, or in a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with ERP systems, particularly Epicor, is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Job Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
